Spicy Honey and Garlic Quail

Ingredients

* 4 quail
* 4 garlic cloves, crushed
* 4 teaspoons sambal oelek (Indonesian paste available at some grocery stores and most Asian stores)
* 3 tablespoons honey
* 2 tablespoons soy sauce
* 2 teaspoons brown sugar

Directions

1.Note: I make it this way for my family which still has a nice kick, if it is for a party or just me I use 1/4 cup sambal oelek as I like it really spicy so adjust amount for heat.
2.Cut quail in half length ways. Combine all marinade ingredients in a storage container or large bowl marinate several hours or over night.
3.Preheat oven to 190°C place quail on wire rack over baking dish, reserve marinade,
4.cook quail for approximately 25 minutes or until browned and crisp and cooked through, brush with marinade a couple of times during cooking.
5.Can be made as a starter for 4 or a main course for 2. You can also double ingredients for 4, as a main.
6.Serve over deep fried vermicelli noodles with stir fried vegetables.
7.This is also a good marinade for chicken wings or drumsticks.

Spicy Chicken Drumsticks

This recipe is part of Lunchbox 1.

This lunchbox is also nut and egg free

Taking us back to basics there is something very appealing about holding a drumstick and munching away at all the tasty flavours. Prepare a batch of drumsticks and pop one into daily lunchboxes for really satisfying meal.

Makes: 5 servings
Preparation Time: 15 minutes plus oveight marinating
Cooking Time: 400 minutes
Oven Temperature: 200°C/180°C Fan/400°F/Gas Mark 6

Ingredients
5 Chicken drumsticks

Marinade
5 x 15ml tbsp Natural yogurt
2 Cloves garlic, crushed
1 x 5ml Curry powder
1 x 5ml tsp Dried mint

Coating
75g/ 3oz Trufree Spicy Crackers
1 x 5ml tsp Mild paprika powder
50g/ 2oz Butter

Method
1. Combine marinade ingredients together and place in a   shallow dish. Add the drumsticks and coat well with the mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, preferably oveight.
2. Preheat oven. Crush Trufree crackers in a plastic bag with a rolling pin until fine. Add the paprika. Sprinkle onto drumsticks to evenly cover and place onto a baking sheet lined with baking parchment.
3. Dot with the butter and bake uncovered until fork tender and golden brown. Allow to cool. Wrap thin end with foil for easy eating. Wrap individually in greaseproof parcels and chill until required. Place in lunchboxes with a cool block to keep fresh.
